This is used to updated the i-stat when new software updates are released. I have tested the infrared port and scan laser both work. I have not tested unit with any test cartridges as do. It could easily be secured by a piece of tape.
The unit does not have a password set on it. Items ship free via us. Their are supposed to be 4 small rubber feet in the corners on back of unit one is not their, they were just glued and likely feel off.
